How to be Self Employed and Even Work From Home

To be successful at being self employed, it takes dedication. To work from home, it takes both dedication and self discipline. It also takes years of work and knowledge of the industry that you wish to take on. Below is a brief history showing that before I took the plunge into self employment, I paid my dues.

If you feel you have what it takes, read on...

I will be writing a series of blogs to give you helpful tips and some insights as to what is involved in becoming self employed.

A little history of my background....

I've been in the service industry for over 30 years. I began working at 16 at McDonalds. This is a wonderful place to develop a strong work ethic. I worked there for 5 1/2 years. When I started, I was quite shy and needed alot of motiviation. Once I developed a sense of confidence working with the public, I was well on my way. After high school, I decided to go to hair dressing school. At the same time, I continued working part time. In my early 20's I got a part time job at a new type of business called 'video rental store'. I loved movies so this was very exciting. In addition to both jobs, I took on a third part time job at a beauty supply store (since I had experience with the school)

Within a few years, I became manager of the video store and went on to become buyer and inventory analyst for Major Video. A few years later, I was offered an exciting job as a district manager for another chain of video stores on the East Coast. After suffering a major car accident, I took a short time to recuperate and decided to slow down and took a job offer at an irish gift store in an upscale outdoor shopping mall.

After the gift store closed, I felt it was time to take control of my future and follow my lifelong dream to open my own business. I spent several years researching the Christian retail industry and knew that was my destiny. After praying over it, I decided to use some of the money that I had saved over the years and took the plunge into small business ownership.

Next blog, I will tell you of the struggles and rewards involved in being self employed

Christian Expressions LLC-Tithing at Church

It's easy to make excuses for not making generous donations to church each week. Why is it important? Churches are the best source to assist those in need. Government is rarely the better choice.

Another great way to help is to find a charity that you like. Always check their rating and reputation before committing your hard earned dollars. My favorite charity is the ASPCA. I'm an animal lover and have been the owner of cats my whole life. You can donate money or better yet, donate supplies, food, etc. Local shelters are always in need.

Looking for a new pet? Visit www.petfinder.com I have adopted all of my cats from local shelters using this very convenient website. This is Ginger. She's a beautiful calico cat. Found her on Pet Finder!

Christian Expressions LLC -A Matter of Free Speech

A word from Christian Expressions LLC about free speech

These days free speech is under attack more than ever. Growing up, we were told over and over that it was the liberals that were the champions of free speech. With the recent rise of conservative tv and talk radio, there is a serious effort among so called 'progressives' to silence dissenters.

The internet is a place where people can chat with like minded individuals about every topic imaginable. The blogosphere has grown so fast that sometimes its hard to separate the "professional" reporter from the individual working out of their basement in order to make a few dollars covering controversial topics with little or no knowledge or an axe to grind.

Case in point, a few years back, a blogger decided to write an article suggesting that Christian Expressions first communion children looked like 'porn stars'. Like most mature, rational people, I was disgusted that she attacked both the children on our site and the Catholic tradition as a whole.

In my opinion, its usually best to treat these  individuals in the same manner as any other adult who is acting like a child in order to gain attention and that is to ignore them, as attention is exactly what they want.

Unfortunately the internet will continue to breed irresponsible behavior but we must never forget that as repulsive as this behavior is, losing our free speech is the ultimate loss for us all. Lets keep the internet free from government interference! Oh, and pray for these individuals
